1. Techniques to answer comprehension questions imparted

Students often feel challenged by difficult comprehension passages. Furthermore, their school teachers may not have sufficient time to give them feedback on their answering techniques. Here at Boston-kidz, we teach students techniques to answer comprehension questions accurately. We also provide feedback by marking their comprehension answers personally so that we can work with them on their weaknesses. These techniques would be reinforced throughout their course of study as well.

2. Individualised feedback targeting weaknesses in composition

School teachers rarely have the time to mark composition pieces and as a result, students do not have enough practices. Recognizing the importance of the composition component, we dedicate one class per month to composition writing so that students can brush up their writing skills. Students would learn new vocabulary words and phrases which they would be encouraged to use in each piece of writing. In addition, we take the time to give individualised feedback targeting each piece of writing to students to help them improve their writing.

3. New words learnt every lesson to expand vocabulary

Some students hold the belief that one cannot study for the English examination. We beg to differ. Every lesson, students would learn new words which would help them tackle the Vocabulary sections of their examination paper. Also, they could use these words in their composition writing and improve their language scores.

4. Grammar rules reinforced

Another key area tested in the English examination is grammar. Not only is this tested in several sections in the main paper, such as Grammar MCQ, Grammar Cloze, Synthesis and Transformation, grasping it would also help students write more fluently. Thus, grammar rules are taught and regularly enforced to ensure that students can remember and apply them effectively and accurately.
